Rebecca is the program coordinator for SOARS (Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science), an undergraduate to graduate bridge program designed to broaden participation in the atmospheric and related sciences. She coordinates the day-to-day activities of the program, which include supporting the program participants while they are in Boulder doing research at NCAR and partnering labs during the summer months. Throughout the year, she makes sure participants receive financial support for school, accompanies them to professional conferences where they present their summer research and tracks their progress to report it to funders.
She graduated from the University of Hamburg, Germany with a Masters in Geography and Anthropology and is currently working on her PhD. Before joining UCAR, Rebecca worked for several years in national park management in Guatemala and taught Geography and Spanish at a Colorado college. In her free time she loves to travel, explore different cultures and learn new languages!
